Hundreds of fans have commented on Graziano Pelle’s latest Instagram post, confusing him with Brazilian legend Pele.

Pele’s family confirmed the death of the Brazilian legend on December 29. The three-time World Cup winner died aged 82 due to “due to multiple organ failures resulting from the progression of colon cancer associated with his previous medical condition,” doctors of Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein hospital said on Thursday.

Clubs and players have been paying tribute to the former striker on social media. He is the only one to have won the World Cup three times and is regarded as one of the best players of all time, if not the greatest.

However, not all messages from fans are aimed at the Brazilian legend.

In fact, hundreds of fans have commented on Graziano Pelle’s latest Instagram post, sending their condolences, confusing him with Pele because of their similar surname.

Some wrote ‘Rip King’ or ‘Rip Legend’, while others posted mourning messages on purpose with bad-taste jokes.

Pelle scored nine goals in 20 appearances with Italy and only two in 37 appearances in Serie A.

  1. He was consistent for Italy National team though. The last attacker to score consistently although played only 20 matches.

  2. That Euro 2016 Team was the worst one since I’ve been watching them but Conte dragged them to extra PK’s against Germany.

We were surely out next Round to France had we won that PK Shootout.
