Bologna are still keen to strike a deal with Germany legend Mats Hummels, but the 2014 World Cup winner is still taking his time to decide over his next move, according to reports on Monday evening.
Bologna still waiting for Hummels
The 35-year-old centre-back is currently available as a free agent following his departure from Borussia Dortmund upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June.
According to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio on Monday evening, Hummels is still thinking about the possibility of signing for Bologna, but has not yet come to a definitive decision.
The player is reportedly considering what might be best for his growing family, rather than just thinking about what is best for the latter stages of his football career.
Bologna will have to remain patient, and are reportedly willing to do so, but they have still identified a list of potential alternatives.
Those reportedly include Udinese’s Jaka Bijol, as well as Logan Costa, Sikou Niakate, Josip Sutalo, Jayden Oosterwolde, Daniele Rugani, and Otávio.
Bologna’s need for a new centre-back has now intensified after Riccardo Calafiori’s permanent move to Arsenal, which was officially confirmed earlier on Monday.
