Bologna have identified Hummels as one of the ideal replacements for Riccardo Calafiori, who is on the verge of joining Arsenal.

However, according to Monday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 11, Real Madrid are also interested in the German centre-back who is available on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Borussia Dortmund.

The pink paper notes that Ancelotti needs reinforcements in central defence to replace Nacho, who has moved to the Saudi Pro League.

The report claims that Bologna have already offered Hummels a €2m-a-year deal plus add-ons, but the Germany centre-back has demanded a €3m-a-year salary.

Talks between the two parties are ongoing and according to Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport on page four Bologna remain confident of signing the 35-year-old this summer.

Juventus‘ Daniele Rugani is also an option for the Rossoblu, who recently agreed to a deal to sign Dutch striker Thijs Dallinga from Toulouse.
