The visitors had a good chance at the start of the game, but Matteo Lovato cleared the area just before Cornelius could hit the ball from point-blank range.

Yann Karamoh earned a spot-kick even if referee Luca Massimi had to had a VAR check to award the penalty kick converted by Kucka.

Hellas Verona reacted immediately when Kevin Lasagna burst in from the left, serving Dimarco on the far post.

The Italian winger helped it in, but failed to celebrate against his former club.

Lega Serie A eventually decided to give the goal to Alberto Grassi who deflected Dimarco's shot.

Gervinho had another good chance, but his shot from inside the penalty area was deflected by a defender and resulted in a corner kick.

Luigi Sepe palmed a Dimarco free-kick from the edge of the box, keeping the score level in the first half.
