Today, Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic will play his first game at home since Rocco Commisso announced the striker would not extend his contract.

Vlahovic sees his contract expire in June 2023, but La Viola had been in talks for a long time to extend his stay at the club with a pay rise.

The Tuscans had offered Vlahovic a €4m-a-year deal for five seasons, making him the highest earner in the history of the club.

However, despite earning just €800,000-a-year, Vlahovic rejected Fiorentina’s offer, causing Commisso’s anger.

The player’s entourage has revealed they won’t sign a new deal with Fiorentina because Commisso refused Atletico Madrid’s €60m offer in the summer.

Fiorentina fans travelling to Venice this past Monday insulted Vlahovic after the Tuscans’ 1-0 defeat against the Lagunari and it remains to be seen how the Artemio Franchi crowd will welcome their No.9 today.

Vlahovic, 21, has scored six goals in nine appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Juventus, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in securing his services in the summer, while Tottenham director Fabio Paratici has ruled out a possible Spurs’ move for the 21-year-old.

2 thought on “How will Fiorentina fans welcome Vlahovic?”
  1. If he actually began scoring a goal or two, that might be more of an immediate need than where he might or might not be next summer. He has allowed all the hype to get to his head.

  2. Only in today’s world where people get mad at you making your own decisions of what to do and how to act as well as looking out for yourself. If he wants to leave, he should leave. People need to stop making a fuss about it. End of story.
