Following the confirmation of Juventus’ exclusion from European competitions for the 2023-24 season by UEFA on Thursday evening, there could be a need to alter the team’s strategy in the transfer market.

Juventus have also been hit with a €10m fine, which could rise to €20m if certain financial fair play requirements aren’t met within the next three years.

It is expected that Juventus will also lose out on up to €80m in revenue through their lack of European football next season.

Given that Juve also posted significant losses for the last three financial years, largely in part to the results of the Covid-19 pandemic, and now that they have to operate with UEFA’s financial requirements looming over them, the club will face a difficult challenge in raising funds this season.

Calciomercato.com reports that there will be a need to move certain players on this transfer window.

The Old Lady now only have Serie A and the Coppa Italia to contend with and without European football, will play somewhere between two and 12 games fewer than last season.

So, not only is there a need to raise funds, but there is also a feeling that a smaller squad would do the trick this season.

Calciomercato writes that as a result, more young players, including the likes of Fabio Miretti, Koni De Winter and Andrea Cambiaso, will be allowed to move out on loan compared to previous seasons.

Big names who may have previously been considered unsellable, such as Federico Chiesa, Gleison Bremer or Dusan Vlahovic could also now move on if suitable offers arrive before the close of the window.

However, Calciomercato also reports that there is still a need to bring in a few new additions, particularly those who are already known quantities in Serie A.

For that reason, Calciomercato believes that Romelu Lukaku would make Juve a stronger team in the league. Franck Kessie has been highlighted as the sort of profile Juve could do with in midfield as well.

Some suggestions have also been mentioned to bolster the Bianconeri’s options out wide, namely Carlos Augusto of Monza and Timothy Castagne of recently-relegated Leicester City.
