Much has changed in the hierarchy of the Serie A standings over the last 12 months, with Napoli just one win away from being crowned champions of Italy to become the fourth different winners of the Scudetto in as many years.

In terms of points, Luciano Spalletti’s side are 13 points better off than they were at this stage of last season, a bigger improvement than any other side of the division, which has teed them up for their first league title since Diego Maradona and co. over 30 years ago.

Salernitana, currently 14th in the division, have also improved significantly over the course of the last year and are 12 points better off in the league table as a result.

Under Maurizio Sarri, Lazio are also better off than they were this time last year, with an improvement of six points in the league, which has taken them to second in the Serie A standings.

The division’s other improvers include Bologna (+5), Atalanta (+3), Udinese (+3) and Torino (+2).

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are the only side who have exactly the same number of points as they did at the same stage of last season (57).

Other teams, of course, have not been quite as fortunate. Hellas Verona are 18 points worse off than they were after 32 games of last season and the league’s bottom-ranked side, Sampdoria, have picked up 12 points fewer than in 2021-22.

Having won the title last time out, Stefano Pioli’s Milan are now fifth with 11 points fewer than last season.

Inter, now back in the top four after their recent 3-1 win over Lazio, have nine points fewer.

Fiorentina (-8), Spezia (-6), Sassuolo (-3), Juventus (-2), and Empoli (-2) are the other teams in the division with fewer points than they did at the same stage of last season.
