Reports in Italy claim Cristian Romero’s move to Tottenham is somehow linked to the chaos surrounding Juventus, with Atalanta‘s CEO Luca Percassi discussing a mysterious letter with Fabio Paratici.

Romero joined Juventus from Genoa in 2020 but has never made his debut with the Bianconeri, signing for Atalanta that same summer. Paratici completed both deals and then signed the Argentinean centre-back at Tottenham for €50m in 2021, weeks after his move to North London.

Atalanta are among the clubs in the spotlight, reports Gazzetta, which transcripts wiretaps between La Dea’s CEO Luca Percassi and Andrea Agnelli.

“There are a number of elements that force me to stand still,” said Agnelli, according to the report.

“We have Guardia Di Finanza and CONSOB who have been looking at us in the last two years, so I’d like to deal with this stuff and then fix the other situations.”

Percassi also spoke about a letter regarding the Romero deal. The Argentinean joined Tottenham for €50m in 2021. “I’ll never be able to get that letter out because if we go to trial, it will be evident that it’s false accounting,” Percassi allegedly told Paratici.

Paratici, a former Juventus director, is among the 11 individuals recommended for trial in an investigation for false accounting. He spent 11 years at the Allianz Stadium before moving to North London in 2021 and was in charge of transfer negotiations with alleged inflated transfer values to balance the Old Lady’s books.

Italy’s Minister For Sport, Andrea Abodi, said on Thursday that Juventus are not the only club involved and others could be involved in the investigation soon.

  1. There is no doubt that this happens all over Europe. Money is the lifeblood of football. This is way many clubs wanted a European Super League. Not for sport but for money. Only a few clubs are immune but many clubs will be busy with the shredders this christmas!

  2. The 7/9 also known as the Wendy’s of Europe have always been the market leader in fake it to make it. At least they cannot do it in Europe and are still going proud on 2 titles lol.
