Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus is not going as the club and the player expected as the midfielder has yet to make his first competitive appearance due to an injury and has allegedly been a victim of blackmail and extorsion.

The France international signed a four-year deal with the Serie A giants in July after his contract with Manchester United expired.

He had joined the team for a summer tournament in the USA, where he sustained a meniscus injury which he initially treated with conservative treatment. It was against the club’s will as the Bianconeri doctors had suggested undergoing surgery in August.

Pogba tried to recover for a month before giving up and eventually went under the knife. He will probably miss out on the World Cup with France. Surely, he won’t be available for Juventus until January.

This means that he won’t be able to help his teammates either in Serie A or in the Champions League group stage, where the Bianconeri lost their opening two games.

Max Allegri’s boys have missed their midfield star on the pitch, having won just two of their nine games across all competitions this season. The coach has publicly complained that his Juventus side is still ‘virtual’ due to the many injuries to key players, including Pogba.

There are even more troubles for the 2018 France World Cup winner off the pitch as the 29-year-old is reported to be under police protection following threats and blackmail attempts from an organised gang.

Three people, including his brother Mathias, have been taken into custody amid allegations they targeted the Juventus star in an extortion attempt.

Mathias emerged on Twitter last night with several posts about his most famous brother. He has confirmed that tweets are automated as he is ‘no longer free.’

Pogba had taken legal action against the gang even before his move to Juventus, claiming members had pointed a gun at him, demanding €13m and stealing €300,000 and a credit card.

Extortion attempts allegedly continued in Turin, including at the Juventus training centre.

The France international posted an Instagram video after surgery on September 6, saying that he was ‘mentally ok’ without any direct reference to the extortion scandal.

  1. They say Divock Origi is the biggest disappointment of this summers transfers, I disagree. I’d rather not have Pogba at Milan.

  2. The 7/9 only have herself to blame. First bringing back the Allegrisaurus Rex, drafting in a cigarettte salesman who made Ferrari worse, collecting deadwood, cannot shift deadwood and last but not least, giving a player who missed 89 games at his former club. This coupled with his love for social media stardom. Don Moggi would never for a second tolerate or do such things.
