Paul Pogba left the pitch in tears after suffering yet another injury and his physical struggles have made every minute of play expensive for Juventus this season.

The 30-year-old Frenchman returned to Turin on a free transfer last summer after ending a six-year spell with Manchester United. He penned a four-year contract, worth around €8m net per season plus €2m in add-ons.

Pogba’s return went wrong almost immediately. He suffered a concerning knee injury during the pre-season tour in the United States and he initially ignored the advice of the club’s doctors, not wanting to undergo an operation.

Less than two months later, with the injury in a worse state, he did have surgery, and he has hardly made a splash in Turin since.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba has only managed to play 161 minutes of action across all competitions for Juventus this season – 108 minutes in Serie A, 42 in the Europa League and 11 in the Coppa Italia.

As such, every minute of play has cost Juventus around €65,000 this season, an extremely disappointing return on investment for the club.

Pogba’s 2022-23 season has come to an end now following his muscle injury in the win over Cremonese and he’ll be hoping to finally reach full fitness in the coming months.
