Chelsea are pushing for a deal with Inter over Romelu Lukaku, what would the big-money move mean for the financial situation at the Nerazzurri?

Inter were reportedly looking to cut costs at Pinetina this summer and had to make at least €80m on the transfer market to balance the books.

Achraf Hakimi’s move to Paris Saint-Germain secured €71m including bonuses, meaning the Nerazzurri were already close to reaching their target with only one key player departing.

Other stars have been linked with moves away from the club in recent weeks, as Lautaro Martinez’s contract situation seems complicated and Chelsea are very serious about bringing Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.

The big transfer story is the latter, with the Blues reportedly preparing a €130m bid for the Belgium international, an offer Inter are expected to accept.

A return to the Londoners depends on the striker, however, as he seems content in Milan, where he has also started several business experiences over the last two years.

But a €130m transfer might be too good to overlook for the Nerazzurri, who are still searching for Hakimi’s replacement and a new left-back to replace former England international Ashley Young.

With over €200m incoming for two transfers, Inter could have €120m to spend to strengthen Simone Inzaghi’s team, with Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, Lazio forward Joaquin Correa and Atalanta attacker Duvan Zapata mentioned as possible targets at San Siro.

The club is expected to look for two new strikers should Lukaku depart this summer and the financial situation at the club would turn around completely with such a lucrative deal.
