Milan have reportedly sent their first formal offer to Monaco for French midfielder Youssouf Fofana after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the 25-year-old earlier in the week.

Milan send initial offer for Fofana

According to updates from Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri have sent an initial offer of €12m plus various add-ons for the 21-time France international.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement, as Monaco are reportedly holding out on their €25m valuation, despite the fact that Fofana is now into the final 12 months of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

If Milan do not receive Monaco’s blessing after the initial bid, Calciomercato reports that they are not expected to go back in with an improved offer.

The player himself is reportedly keen to join the project at San Siro, and to team up with some of his international colleagues, Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan.

Reports earlier in the week confirmed that Milan have an agreement on a contract offer of €3.5m per season, which is around €1m more than what Fofana currently takes home in Ligue 1.

The length of contract is expected to be for a minimum of four years with the option of a fifth.
