There are reports that PSG director Leonardo is once again interested in signing Lucas Paquetá and Milan could get more than €10m if the Brazilian moves to Paris for €80m in the summer.

Leonardo brought Paquetá to Europe in 2019, signing him for Milan in a €38.5m deal from Flamengo.

However, the 24-year-old spent just one year and a half at San Siro, joining Lyon for €20m in January 2020.

The Brazil international has scored eight goals and delivered four assists in 26 games across all competitions this term and according to L’Equipe, Leonardo is eager to reunite with the former Milan midfielder in Paris.

Lyon’s asking price for the Rossoneri flop is €80m and should PSG meet their economic demands over the summer, Milan would cash in €12m.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan included a sell-on clause in the deal that saw Paquetá move to France two years ago and will get the 15% from any future sale of the Brazilian midfielder.

  1. @Milan Fan It won’t be far off.

Just need to look on the bright side and say “hey, there’s 12 mill we didn’t expect to get” because when he left for Lyon there was no way that guy was an 80mil player and likely Milan would not see anything in future bonuses.

    Paid 38.5
Sold for 20 + 12 in bonus only leaves 6.5 gap.

Better than paying for Kessie and then getting nothing back when he leaves for free.

  2. They really need the money now though don’t they! It’d be a nice touch. I was a bit disappointed they sold him to begin with. Surely he’s on a par with Salad + Samu? Impressed with Maignan though. Milan aren’t missing Gigio at all, which is crazy!

  3. It’s nuts we’re talking about Paqueta as an 80m player, but hey that’s the P$G inflationary effect. Make sure he’s loved and has lots of friends! I hope it’s true so we can get that 12m.

  4. If they’re paying 80M for him, is this Leonardo’s way to say sorry for Gigio’s saga? Lol.

No knocks on Paqueta, but I dont think he’s worth that much right now, sorry.

  5. After reading this and the awfully put together donnarumma article, I feel as someone who loves football saying your going to psg for anything other than money is rubbish. Unless you’re at a low level club in the top 5 leagues (outside of Europe competitions) or are from a country where it’s not as good quality, I don’t see any allure of psg bar the city (overrated) and money. I personally think competition is what makes players better, steamrolling 95% of the league won’t improve stuff, Italian clubs had a slump but they’re getting back to it. I’d much rather represent the Milan’s or juve. Better league, better history, more competitive. Winning league 1 for them is meaningless yet they still failed last year, still can’t win the big one, struggle in the cups and sign a megastar who clearly doesn’t want to be there. Joke of a club.

  6. they do not have to get the amount they gave for him when they bought him to earn on him. A football player’s value is written off over the contract period. Hence a player bought for €40m with a 4-year contract will have a value of €30m after one year and the club will have to sell for that amount in order to break even.

  7. You guys are mixing up accounting and liquidity.

From an accounting perspective, yes, a player’s transfer fee is written off. This is what determines whether our books are balanced such that we can comply with FFP.

But from a liquidity perspective, if you pay €40m and get nothing in return, then you are “missing” €40m. Liquidity is what enables you to pay your players’ wages etc. Without liquidity you cannot pay. Quite simple
