The Champions League quarter-final between Inter and Benfica brings not only the opportunity to qualify for the last four of Europe’s flagship competition, but also the chance to add serious amounts of money to the clubs’ funds ahead of next season.

Participation in any stage of the Champions League guarantees a minimum of €15.64 million in additional revenue for any given club.

Added to that are additional funds based on UEFA’s ten-year rankings, as a result of which, Inter have collected just shy of €16 million, plus a variable market pool figure of around €12.6 million, which can vary depending on the results of the other Italian sides in the competition.

Then, there are bonuses of €2.8 million for a win in the group stages, €900,000 for a draw and €9.6 million for qualifying for the knockout stages.

The Nerazzurri picked up three wins and one draw as they finished second in Group C, behind fellow quarter-finalists Bayern Munich, but ahead of five-time winners Barcelona.

Qualification for the quarter-final stage of the competition brings in an extra €10.6 million, meaning that Inter have already acquired roughly €73.4 million from this year’s edition of the competition.

But, Inter could still go even further. Qualification for the semi-final brings in a further €12.5 million.

Reaching the final guarantees another €4.5 million on top of that, whilst the competition’s winners will walk away with another €15 million in prize money plus an extra €3.5 appearance fee for playing in the UEFA Super Cup.
