Silvio Berlusconi has spent hundreds of millions on Monza since taking over the club in 2018, taking them from the lower divisions to Serie A.

The former Prime Minister of Italy was famously the owner of Milan from 1986 to 2017, guiding them to countless honours including eight Scudetti and five Champions League titles.

After selling Milan to Li Yonghong in 2017, Berlusconi briefly stepped away from the footballing world before returning a year later to purchase Monza, a team stuck in Serie C. Within four years, he oversaw the club’s rise to their first ever topflight campaign in Serie A.

Calcio e Finanza details how much Berlusconi spent on Monza since his takeover in 2018, carefully analysing their financial statements.

The Biancorossi closed out 2022 with a turnover of €32.7m and costs of €105.5m – the first six months of this year saw them stuck in Serie B, before enjoying promotion to the topflight in the second half of the year.

Since his takeover in 2018, Monza have always closed out their financial years with losses, amounting to around €134m total now.

Berlusconi’s holding company Finivest invested more than €64m for 2022 and another €15m on March 28 2023.
