Italy and Turkey will pick five venues each for Euro 2032 and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has suggested that two or three new stadiums will be built in the Peninsula.

Italy and Turkey have been chosen to host UEFA Euro 2032.

It’s the first international tournament Italy has organised since the World Cup Italia 90 and the third time ever the European Championships are hosted in the country after 1968 and 1980.

UEFA said Italy and Turkey presented 20 potential host stadiums, of which 10 will be chosen, five per country, by October 2026.

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has told Sky Sport Italia that three venues have already been judged ‘positively’ by UEFA, so only ”two or three stadiums’ must be built. Gravina said Italy have time to put the ‘foundation stone’ until March 31, 2027.

However, he insisted that the country “Should not just consider the five or six venues for this phase. We must go beyond and see 2032 as a great opportunity that can offer our country and the world of football a chance to develop and build ideas, culture and infrastructures.”

It is still unclear which venues have been judged ‘positively’ by UEFA. On paper, they are Turin (Allianz Stadium), Milan (San Siro) and Rome (Olimpico), but things will likely change in the near future.

Milan, for example, hope to inaugurate their new stadium by 2029, starting works at the end of 2025, so it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri’s new home will be included in the venues for Euro 2032.

Gravina has also warned that he’s reluctant to accept a ‘commissioner’ in charge of projects for new stadiums.

“Don’t be deceived,” he said. “A commissioner can’t be the solution to all problems. It can be helpful, but it is one of the elements. All the others must be identified in the world of football.”

7 thought on “How many stadiums will Italy build for Euro 2032?”
  1. We have far bigger problems to solve than throwing money at stadiums. If though the clubs wants to pay for them privately then great.

  2. They are revamping Stadio Artemio in Florence specifically for the event. I don’t know why they haven’t added oy their 5 venues.

  3. Italains are the ultimate environmetalists when it comes to their stadia… re-use, re-purpose, recycle…
