Francesco Acerbi is at serious risk of being handed a lengthy ban after allegedly being racist to Juan Jesus in the closing stages of Inter’s draw with Napoli.

As the tense Serie A clash between the league leaders and defending champions began to draw to a close, Juan Jesus was spotted on camera talking to referee Federico La Penna, pointing to the Keep Racism Out badge on his shirt and alleging that Acerbi ‘called me a n***o’.

The Napoli centre back tried to move on from the incident when speaking to DAZN after the match, highlighting how ‘what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch’ and that Acerbi ‘had apologised’, but he later took to Instagram to reflect on the incident again.

TMW details how Acerbi could be at risk of being handed a lengthy ban should the federal inspectors’ reports confirm Juan Jesus’ allegations.

Under Article 28 of the Code of Sports Justice, the Inter defender could be banned for at least 10 matches as a result of the racism, with a longer suspension also possible. The case will only develop if proof can be found, with Juan Jesus’ report not being enough.
