Juventus will be forced to change their transfer strategy in the summer without Champions League football and the risk of missing out on circa €120m.
The Bianconeri have been docked 10 points in Serie A for financial irregularities, meaning they won’t play in Europe’s elite competition in 2023-24. They’ve already earned a European spot, but whether they’ll play in Europa or Conference League depends on a UEFA investigation ending in June.
According to Gazzetta, missing out on Champions League football means Juventus will lose circa €120m and with owner John Elkann who has ruled out a cash injection until 2025, the Serie A giants will be forced to balance the books by cutting their wage bill and probably by selling some of their stars.
Angel Di Maria and Adrien Rabiot, two of the club’s highest earners, will leave the Allianz Stadium at the end of their contracts in June. The same is true of Leandro Paredes, who will return to PSG after a disappointing loan spell in Turin.
Juventus will then chase players with a low salary and some of their stars could be forced to leave. Dusan Vlahovic is among them. According to Gazzetta, the striker is not exactly on good terms with coach Massimiliano Allegri and has many suitors around Europe, especially Bayern Munich, Man United, Chelsea, Newcastle and PSG.
If Vlahovic leaves, Juventus would sign Arek Milik permanently or loan Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham.
The future of Federico Chiesa is also uncertain. His contract expires in June 2025 and the new financial parameters of the Bianconeri make it difficult to extend his stay. Bayern remain interested in the Italy international, but Juventus could also listen to offers for youngsters Matias Soulé and Samuel Iling Jr.
Davide Frattesi and Armand Lauriente (Sassuolo), Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton) and Carlos Augusto (Monza) are mentioned as potential reinforcements for the Bianconeri who will appoint a new sporting director in the coming weeks. Napoli’s Cristiano Giuntoli remains the leading candidate having already reached an agreement with the Old Lady.
