Max Allegri said that ‘all is not lost’ for Juventus in the Champions League, and there is still a slim possibility they could reach the Round of 16 by eliminating PSG or Benfica.

The Bianconeri are in dire straits after losing the opening two group phase matches, something this club had never experienced before in its entire history.

It leaves them rock bottom with Maccabi Haifa, already six points adrift of Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.

The worst case scenario would see the minimum needed to progress set at 12 points, something Juve could only achieve by winning all four remaining matches.

In that situation, they would need a superior result to the 2-1 suffered against PSG and Benfica so far in order to tip the head-to-head record in their favour.

When sides are level on points in a Champions League group, they are divided first by head-to-head record, then head-to-head goal difference and then goals scored in head-to-head matches.

If all those are still tied, then it goes to away goals in head-to-head matches.

Allegri has said he expects Juve will be able to get through if they amass 10 points, but that too leaves hardly any wiggle room.

If the Old Lady does not manage to reach the Round of 16, it’ll be the earliest Juventus Champions League exit since Antonio Conte’s final season in 2013-14.

  1. @Mikkel yes with Tuchel it is possible but commentary was saying that there is a 1 in 10 chance of progressing after losing the first 2 matches

  2. It would be better for the 7/9 not to progress and finish rock bottom of the group. For years the fake big team or aspiring to be a big team of Europe have gotten away with consecutive 4th spot finishes. Missing out or spending time in the Conference League where they belong is a much needed reality check for a club fully immersed in the art of zombification.

  3. Sack allegri and the board make del piero president them clowns nedved and especially agnelli need to go asap 🤡 CLOWNS
