Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku are on the verge of joining Inter and Football Italia looks at how the Nerazzurri could line up in 2022-23.

Beppe Marotta is keeping himself busy in the first part of the summer transfer window, having already secured five signings for the Serie A champions.

Lukaku will return to the club on loan from Chelsea, Mkhitaryan and André Onana will complete free transfers to the Stadio Meazza. Raoul Bellanova is set to sign with the Benamata on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy from Cagliari, the same formula used for Kristjan Asllani’s transfer from Empoli.

Simone Inzaghi could lose Milan Skriniar to PSG, but Marotta is believed to have reached an agreement with Gleison Bremer and will sit down with Torino if Skriniar departs for Paris.

So, how could the Nerazzurri line up next season?

Simone Inzaghi is unlikely to drop his 3-5-2 formation and Lukaku will get his starting spot along with Lautaro Martinez.

Mkhitaryan will give more depth to the squad and will likely become a backup for Hakan Calhanoglu, who had an excellent first season with the Nerazzurri thanks to his 13 assists and eight goals in 46 games across all competitions.

Likewise, Inzaghi will rotate Onana and Samir Handanovic in goal. The Inter captain is expected to sign a contract extension with the club in the coming days. Asllani will likely move to the Meazza from Empoli and will replace Marcelo Brozovic when needed.

Inter collected just two points from the three Serie A games played without the Croat last season. Bellanova will bolster Inzaghi’s options on the right, with Matteo Darmian mainly deployed on the left from next season.

  1. Lukaku comes in but Perisic is out and if Skriniar also leaves then Inter are weaker than last season imo no matter his replacement.

Perisic was fantastic last season. Serious contender for player of the season. Gosens is a really good player but remains to be seen if Inter will have the same productivity as last season from the wings.

  2. Pretty good line-up and better depth in attacking department. Almost as good as scudetto’s winning team from 20/21, minus hakimi.
Even if Inter lose Skriniar, as long as Marotta manages to get Bremer in return, and perhaps Milenkovic as well, the defense will not be any weaker than Milan’s or Juve’s. Of course if Inter are not forced to make profit, then Bastoni-Bremer-Skriniar could’ve become of the best defense in Europe
