Paulo Fonseca was delighted with Samuel Chukwueze’s opening goal against Udinese and ‘literally entered the pitch to celebrate.’

DAZN pitchside reporter Marco Russo described how Milan coach Fonseca celebrated the Rossoneri’s opening goal against Udinese on Saturday.

The Portuguese coach is under pressure, having lost four games from the opening nine across all competitions. Fonseca dropped Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham for today’s home game against the Bianconeri for technical and disciplinary reasons.

Milan took the lead at minute 13 through Nigerian winger Chukwueze, who made the most of a fine assist from Christian Pulisic.

“We’ve rarely seen such a celebration from Fonseca,” said DAZN reporter Russo. “He literally entered the pitch to celebrate.”

Chukwueze had never scored at San Siro in Serie A since joining Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.

The Rossoneri dominated in the opening 29 minutes, but the game drastically changed when Tijjani Reijnders received a straight red card for a foul on Sandi Lovric.
