Inter host Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash this week. How do the Reds look coming into this match?

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in a run of strong form heading into the game after starting 2022 in a decisive fashion. They won all but one of their five Premier League matches since the new year and cup wins over Shrewsbury, Cardiff and Arsenal have added to their dominant start.

Liverpool also have a healthy squad, with only Divock Origi out injured. The star players who featured at the Africa Cup of Nations last month, like Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, have now had over a week to recover from the tournament and will be fired up heading into the tie.

The Reds’ last visit to the San Siro came earlier this season, when they beat Milan 2-1 in the group stages. They’ll be ready for another electric European evening on Wednesday this week.

  1. That Liverpool team is amazing ! with no Barella who will be replaced with Vidal they will run circles around Inter ! This is going to be like when Simone’s Lazio faced Bayern Munich – get ready for a repeat 🙂

  2. They’re looking better than Inter, unfortunately.

Barella being out is very bad, given the reserves coming in for him are well below par. Vidal can’t run, Vecino and Gagliardini aren’t up to much.

If Liverpool play a high tempo, Inter are probably doomed. Serie A sides rarely beat epl sides when the pace is fast. If it’s a slower game, Inter have a chance.

  3. Inter will get annihilated. At Anfield at least. At San siro Liverpool will take it easy, let inter control the game and score on the counter.

Liverpool are several levels above inter and any serie a team

  4. that right azzkir? ask klopp how he feels about atalanta and/or napoli. while you have the ears of the best international coaches ask guardiola how he feels about ‘trips to the dentist’?

  5. It is important for us not to come into this match and think that Inter is AC Milan, we must not be too arrogant. Inter is a good team that has led the league almost all season. We have Thiago back in top form and that is very important to us.
