Serie A stars Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Lautaro Martinez reacted to Argentina’s 2-1 loss against Saudi Arabia in their debut at Qatar 2022.

All of them started at Lusail Stadium this morning and the early signs were promising given that Leo Messi had given his side the lead by converting a penalty after just 10 minutes. Inter star Lautaro Martinez saw a goal disallowed after a VAR check as his shoulder was slightly beyond the last Saudi Arabia defender.

Argentina collapsed in the second half when Saudi Arabia scored two goals in the space of five minutes. Messi, who plays at a World Cup for the last time in his career, claimed that Argentina players are ‘devastated’ following their loss in the opening match of the competition.

But how did Serie A stars react?

Di Maria and Paredes posted the same picture on Instagram. “We didn’t star as we wanted, but that’s how football is,” said the Juventus winger.

“We have to look ahead, as this team has always done. Let’s give our all because we have a long way ahead.”

“In bad times, even more,” added Paredes, posting the same picture as Di Maria.

Lautaro said that the mood in the team must remain ‘positive’ adding that he has “trust in this group and in this team.”

Paulo Dybala was an unused substitute and remained silent on social media.

Argentina will face Hirving Lozano’s Mexico on Saturday and a Poland side filled with Serie A players on Wednesday, November 30, in the final match of Group C.
