After losing out on Marcus Thuram to Inter, Milan want to respond by snapping up Davide Frattesi, believing Lorenzo Colombo could be the decisive factor.

The Rossoneri are currently working on selling fan favourite Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for over €70m, prompting them to start looking around for adequate replacements for Stefano Pioli’s squad.

In the meantime, Milan have also been competing with Paris Saint-Germain for free agent Thuram, but have now seemingly lost out to Inter, leaving them in a difficult spot in the days leading up to the opening of the summer transfer window.

Pages four to seven of today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Milan have now decided to switch focus to Frattesi, wanting to beat Inter and the other interested parties to the Sassuolo midfielder’s signature.

The Neroverdi are interested in 21-year-old striker Colombo, who Milan could insert in an offer to lower the costs of a deal. The Reggio-Emilia outfit want around €40m for Frattesi and it’s now up to the Rossoneri to find the right formula to reach an agreement.
