Leonardo Bonucci was ‘shocked’ to learn Juventus no longer count on him but is determined to convince Massimiliano Allegri to change his mind, while Fenerbahce and Lazio are interested in signing the defender.

Juventus directors Giovanni Manna and Cristiano Giuntoli have personally informed Bonucci that he’s no longer part of the project, so he will train separately from the group with the other players on the market, including Weston McKennie.

They will not be involved in the pre-season tour in the USA which will start next week.

Gazzetta and Sky Sport Italia report Bonucci was ‘shocked’ by the announcement but will show up for training on Monday when he is expected to meet Allegri. The Italy international will try to persuade the coach to change his mind, but Juventus’ decision is irreversible.

The 36-year-old has one year left in his contract with the Old Lady and aims to play in the 2024 Euros with Italy, so he must join a new club this summer to have chances to be involved in the tournament and help the Azzurri retain the title.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Fenerbahce and Lazio have shown interest in the veteran defender. The Turkish side made an offer a few months ago, but Bonucci didn’t even listen, thinking he would play for the Bianconeri until 2024.

Newcastle and Sampdoria have also been linked with signing the Italy international, but Sky Italia has not mentioned them among the possible next destinations for the former Juventus captain.
