Hospital provide positive update on Monza President Berlusconi

The San Raffaele hospital in Milan has provided a further update on Monza President and former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, revealing that the politician’s condition has improved over the last few days.

The former Milan owner was hospitalised nine days ago with cardiovascular issues and it was later disclosed that the 86-year-old had been diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier in the month, for which he has already begun chemotherapy.

On the ninth day of his stint in hospital, an update was given, which said that Berlusconi has been ‘constantly’ improving, although he is set to remain in intensive care for a longer period of time.

The update reads: “In the last 72 hours there has been a further constant improvement in respiratory and renal function, with effective containment of leukocytosis and inflammatory syndrome.

“The overall clinical picture indicates the necessary continuation of treatment in an intensive care setting.”

Berlusconi has been the owner of Monza since 2018, taking over when the club were playing their football in Serie C. Within a few years, he had guided them to their first ever topflight campaign.

The Monza players and staff recently sent a message with their best wishes to Berlusconi after it was announced that he had been admitted to hospital.
