During their post-match press conferences, José Mourinho said Tammy Abraham played ‘a horrible game’ while Max Allegri claimed that criticisms ‘give strength’ to Juventus.

The Special One and Allegri met the media, including Football Italia, at the Allianz Stadium following their 1-1 draw.

Takeaways from Mourinho’s press conference

During his post-match interview with DAZN, Mourinho said he was ‘ashamed’ of Roma players in the first half. It’s no coincidence that he left the dugout one minute before the end of the first half when Juventus were leading 1-0.

“I was very disappointed at the beginning of the game, but then the reply was very positive and I like it. It shows maturity, which we didn’t have in the first half.”

“When you lose the ball after two passes and concede a free-kick after 22 seconds there is no tactic. There are technical and emotive qualities. The approach was really poor. Yesterday I said that every game is an isolated event, which has nothing to do with the previous or the next match. A total lie. Emotionally, there is always a connection.

“The best on the pitch was the referee, he was excellent for 90 minutes. Then Juventus did well for 55 minutes and we did well for 35, we almost won it.

“Dybala always makes the difference. At the beginning of the second half, he was not able to make two passes, but then he improved. I know how things work. I saw Abraham’s interview. Apparently, he played a great game, but it was horrible. Dybala played well. It was difficult for everyone and when we reached the final third in the second half, we could feel the fear of Juventus fans. It’s part of the game, I am really happy with Paulo.”

Dybala returned to the Allianz Stadium for the first time as a Juventus opponent. No player has scored more goals than him here and the last time he had played in Turin he broke into tears while saying goodbye to Juventus supporters. La Joya has assisted Abraham for his first season goal.

“The first question should be, why do we play on Saturday and then on Tuesday? Why Monza played yesterday and we’ll face them on Tuesday,” continued Mourinho.

“We are missing Zaniolo and I think a new striker [Andrea Belotti] will arrive tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. We are missing a midfielder to replace Wijnaldum. We replaced the wing-backs today, it wouldn’t have been possible last season.”

Takeaways from Allegri’s press conference

During his post-match interview with DAZN, Allegri said Juventus should have killed the game off, but they didn’t, so the Giallorossi managed to grab the equaliser in the second half.

“The first half was good, it wasn’t easy because we came from a week of criticism after the game with Sampdoria,” he added at his post-match press conference.

“Mourinho is able to keep the team in the game despite all difficulties. Once, we lost against Manchester United despite dominating the game.

“Miretti? He is a good young player, he knows how to stop the ball and pass it forward.

“Did you have fun? It’s a problem. There were good technical plays, but we are only at the third game of a season that ends in June. We could have won it. Your criticism gives us strength, we are preparing to return to winning. We should make no mistakes and confuse what’s nice with what’s efficient. I understand it isn’t easy.

“I read everything, I accept criticism, it makes me stand out. Some things give me strength, and some are genius and help me improve the team. We are Juventus, we always play to win. I told the guys that we must have the serenity to play, improve and go all the way through.

“The devil invented football, we risked more against Sassuolo and we won 3-0. I am happy with the performance; now we have Spezia at home again. A match that we must win with respect. I am upset because of the goal we allowed, we could have won, but we must look at the positives.”

Rabiot left the pitch because of an injury, but Allegri said the France international isn’t dealing with a severe issue.

“It’s just a cramp, he was tense after all you said and wrote.”

The former PSG star refused to join Manchester United after Juventus and the Red Devils had reached an agreement over his transfer fee.

  1. The takeaway is clear. PhD Max told the 7/9 to not find the second goal, as both have no idea how to do that. Bed time calcio straight after the interval and prepare the polygon for Spezia. Roberto Carlos better learn his geometry.

  2. @Lord Allegri
