“This could be a really special evening for us,” Hoedt told Lazio Style Channel.
“We are coming off a painful defeat in Serie A to Udinese, but that can happen. Now it’s up to us to give a response on the pitch.
“This will be a very difficult match, as Borussia Dortmund are a strong team, but so are we. We’ve got to play the way we know how, attacking and defending as a team.
“If we play like that, we can fight it out with everyone. We talked about the approach in the dressing room and realised we cannot get that aspect wrong. We must be humble and work all together.”
A victory would send Lazio through to the Champions League final 16 for the first time since 1999-2000.
