Tuttomercatoweb reports Hoedt will check in at the Paideia clinic in Rome tomorrow morning for tests.

The Dutchman is no stranger to Lazio, having spent two seasons with them between 2015 and 2017.

He joined Southampton for €17m but has played just 45 times for the Premier League side, spending time on loan at Celta Vigo and Antwerp.

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Inzaghi practically confirmed the 26-year-old’s imminent return.

“We must be able to take whatever the market offers us,” explained the coach.

“We’re short on numbers right now and we want to improve our squad. Hoedt knows our club and our methods.

“We could’ve taken him right away, but he hasn't trained properly for some time.”

As per Sky Sport Italia, the deal involves a season-long loan with a €5m option to buy.
