Hincapie’ agent confirms ‘Milan interest’ after Napoli and Tottenham links

The agent of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié confirms ‘interest from Milan,’ after Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur rumours, but has no real intention of leaving Germany.

The Ecuador international is only 20 years old, but already has 19 senior caps for his country and was purchased from Talleres in the summer of 2021 for €6.35m.

Primarily a centre-back, but also able to play at left-back, he has also been linked with Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.

“Piero is very happy at this moment at Bayer Leverkusen and in general in Germany,” agent Manuel Sierra told stopandgoal.com.

“I can confirm there is interest in him from Milan, but at the moment he is talking to Bayer in order to understand how they can continue to grow together.”

If he were to be sold this summer, the €30m asking price would’ve been too much for Milan or Napoli at this moment, as the Rossoneri made clear their priority is reinforcing the attack and midfield.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham were linked with a possible €35m proposal for the versatile defender, an alternative to their first choices including Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar.

Hincapié made 33 competitive appearances for Bayer Leverkusen this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist for his teammates.
