Gonzalo Higuain’s father Jorge reveals the former Napoli, Juventus and Milan striker will retire at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old is currently under contract with Inter Miami and this season will be his last one as a professional footballer, his father claimed. Jorge Higuain said that the former Serie A star will hang his boots at the end of the MLS campaign. The regular season in America ends in November, while the play-off Final is on December 11.

“I don’t think he will return to Argentina, he told me that he will retire at the end of the season,” Higuain’s father told TNT Sports in Argentina.

“I’d like to see him in the world of football after the end of his career. He knows a lot about this sport. He has everything to triumph. It will be a shame if he doesn’t continue in football.”

El Pipita spent a big part of his playing career in Italy, wearing the shirts of Napoli, Juventus and Milan. He scored 125 goals in 224 appearances in Italy’s top-flight: 91 with Napoli, 66 with Juventus and eight with Milan.

He set a new Serie A scoring record in 2015-16, managing 36 goals in 35 league appearances with Napoli. Lazio star Ciro Immobile equalled his record in the 2019-20 campaign.

He began his career as a professional footballer at River Plate, joining Real Madrid under Fabio Capello in January 2007. Higuain also spent a six-month loan at Chelsea, scoring five goals in 18 appearances.

  1. It sounds like he will go and live in his parents garage. With his mom doing his laundry and cooking his meals. Why can’t a grown man speak for himself.

  2. Messi fanboys loved to hate on him and use him as a scapegoat for their national team failures. Messi misses an easy chance, then Higuain misses another. But we only talk about the Higuain miss.

He had his flaws, his psychological issues, his temper etc.

But he was clinical. Loved watching him and still remember his goals against Napoli like they were yesterday.
