Gonzalo Higuain had every right to make his summer move from Napoli to Juventus, according to his brother.

The Argentine forward joined the Bianconeri for a fee of €90m, the fourth highest transfer deal in history.

He has been criticised in some quarters for his decision to leave San Paolo for a rival club, but Federico Higuain says his sibling should pay no attention to his detractors.

"Everyone has a right to live their life how they want to,” Higuain told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Gonzalo had this opportunity and seized it.

“He will give his all for Juve like he has for all of his previous clubs. In terms of market prices, €90m could seem like a lot, but it's the reality of football today.

“Insults and premeditated attacks are part of the game today and it's better that we don't pay much attention to them."

Federico himself plays professionally, for MLS side Columbus Crew, but would not compare himself to his brother.

"He is a striker, I play further behind. But we have the same last name and we have the same pride to play football like our father, Jorge.

“We're brothers. We have a great relationship.”

Gonzalo has made an excellent start to life in Turin, scoring three Serie A goals in as many games so far this season.
