Napoli and Juventus have reacted very differently to the news that Gonzalo Higuain will retire as the Bianconeri showed his most important goal for the club, while the Partenopei ignored the Argentinean.

The former Serie A star announced his retirement at a press conference on Monday.

He had joined the Partenopei from Real Madrid in 2013 but left the club just three years later, signing with their arch-rivals Juventus who had paid his €90m release clause.

Apparently, there are still hard feelings between the Partenopei and Higuain as Napoli ignored their-ex star after he announced his retirement yesterday.

Milan did the same, but Higuain only spent six months on loan at San Siro before joining Chelsea, still on loan, in January 2019.

Juventus, on the other hand, have paid tribute to Higuain on social media.

The Bianconeri shared what’s arguably his most important goal for the club: a late winner against Inter at San Siro, which helped Juventus win the Serie A title over Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli with 95 points against 91.

Higuain has been one of the most iconic Serie A strikers of the last decade having scored 125 goals in 224 games in Italy’s top flight. He also holds the record for the most goals scored in a single campaign: 36 in 2015-16, matched by Ciro Immobile in 2019-20.
