The forward is currently on World Cup duty with his country but has been heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona of late.

Speaking to Radio Crc, Luigi Liberti also expressed his belief that the player is approaching his peak condition in Brazil.

“Higuain is hungry and he is rediscovering his best condition, so I think the next game could belong to him,” he said.

“I think it’s more possible that he will stay at Napoli rather than go somewhere else. When players play in the World Cup their attention is always focused on this competition.

“I understand that the Napoli fans want Higuain to say ‘I have a contract with Napoli and I am staying,’ but players always use half-phrases that are left open to interpretation.”
