Napoli’s sporting director reportedly spoke to Gonzalo Higuain’s agent, but a renewal is unlikely.
The striker and his club are at loggerheads, as Nicolas Higuain, his brother and representative, declared that his client wouldn’t renew his contract.
That sparked interest from Juventus and Arsenal, but the Partenopei are refusing to sell for less than Higuain’s €94m release clause.

Now Radio Crc is reporting that sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has spoken with Nicolas Higuain, stating that the Vesuviani are willing to make a big signing and review their policy on image rights.
When Higuain joins-up for pre-season training, he is likely to be offered a renewal, with higher wages and a reduced release clause.
However, the radio station believes that Higuain and his entourage still don’t want to renew, but will respect the contract if Napoli don’t want to sell.
