It was a very entertaining match at the Olimpico, as Tammy Abraham provided two assists on his Roma debut and Fiorentina made it a real battle despite the early red card.

Jose Mourinho launched Abraham straight into the starting XI and it paid off, as he was brought down by Bartlomiej Dragowski for the goalkeeper’s dismissal after just 17 minutes.

The former Chelsea striker also provided two assists for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jordan Veretout goals, as well as his header thumping the crossbar.

Roma 3-1 Fiorentina: Abraham and VAR decisive

Nicolò Zaniolo also saw red for two bookable offences on Nico Gonzalez and Nikola Milenkovic got a deserved temporary equaliser, but Fiorentina were eventually beaten by a Veretout brace.

  1. This is an impressive start to Roma’s season (so far) The win in Turkey could easily have been much trickier. There is the return game to follow. And the win against Fiorentina was emphatic. As every manager knows, wins breed confidence.

  2. 1. Abraham was running away from the goal 2. Replay shows Dragowski never touched him. The referee seemed to be way too excited to give that red card. Just look at the way he gives roma the goal which was initially ruled out for offside. He is almost celebrating.
