Massimiliano Allegri praised Juventus midfielder Arthur and it looks like the Brazilian midfielder is enjoying a new life after his move to Arsenal collapsed in January.

The Brazil international was on the verge of leaving the Allianz Stadium in the January transfer window. His agent Federico Pastorello had claimed that he was ‘not suitable to Allegri’s playing style’ and Arsenal appeared close to securing his services on loan with an option to buy.

However, according to The Athletic, the Gunners’ board decided against welcoming the former Barcelona man on an 18-month loan with an option to buy in the region of €40m, while club directors Edu and Federico Cherubini had reached an agreement in principle.

Arthur played 90 minutes in Juventus’ 2-0 over Hellas Verona on Sunday and was praised by Massimiliano Allegri during a press conference today.

“Arthur is improving, he played very well on Sunday,” said Allegri.

“He’s like a child, always running behind the ball. Sometimes he has to handle himself a little bit more, but he put in a great performance against Hellas Verona. He has extraordinary technical abilities.”

The Brazilian had a rough start to the season under the Tuscan tactician. He missed the opening six Serie A games of the season due to an injury and collected just four appearances in league games until mid-January.

However, he’s been getting regular playing time lately, having played six of the last seven Serie A matches starting in three of them.

  1. Someone explain to me what Arthur does, exactly. He doesn’t dictate play or tempo (like Jorginho, for example). He doesn’t create. He doesn’t break up play or defend. He doesn’t make runs. Sure, he has a decent touch, but for God’s sake, what does he actually add to the team?

  2. @Marcello: Arthur brought in revenue for the club. Remember the Pjanic deal? Sweet plusvalenza

That`s all. Mission completed, hence why the bianconeri tried to get rid of him.

What should Max say now? He has to praise him now that he`s stuck with him.
