Theo Hernandez scored a sensational goal as he ran the length of the Giuseppe Meazza pitch to put Milan 2-0 ahead in their crucial clash with Atalanta.

And many on social media immediately compared the effort to the so-called ‘Goal of the Century’ scored by George Weah for the Rossoneri against Verona in September 1996.

Hernandez picked up the ball in between the Milan penalty area and middle of the pitch as he started to run towards the centre circle.

The France international ran past two Atalanta players, before he bypassed the midfield and began veering back towards the left.

Hernandez held off two Atalanta defenders before firing the ball past Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso and into the bottom right-hand corner.

The sensational effort had shades of Weah’s historic goal when he rant the entire length of the pitch before finding the back of the net.

On that occasion, the former Ballon d’Or-winner collected the ball as Milan were defending a corner and just began running, going past oncoming Verona players before finding the back of the net from just inside the area.

  1. Theo’s goal was incredible, but the Krunic sliding tackle against Boga was a piece of art. Well done both guys
