Roma defender Mario Hermoso picked up a muscular injury that is likely to keep him sidelined for the next few games, although coach Ivan Juric hopes to have him back before the international break in mid-November.

The Spanish centre-back missed his side’s 1-0 win over Torino on Thursday after receiving a red card during the Giallorossi’s 5-1 defeat at Fiorentina last weekend, but now it looks like Juric will be forced to do without him for more matches.

Corriere dello Sport reported that Hermoso suffered a muscular problem during a training session on Friday and Roma and Roma expect the 29-year-old to stay out for about 10 days.

The former Atletico Madrid defender is sure of missing Roma’s next Serie A fixture at Verona and their Europa League trip to Belgium next Thursday, when the Giallorossi will take on Union Saint-Gilloise.

Juric hopes Hermoso can return for his side’s match against Bologna on 10 November, but won’t take any risk to speed up his recovery in case he won’t be fully fit, which is why there’s a chance to see the player back only after the international break.

Hermoso started his first Serie A game against Fiorentina, while he was included in the starting XI in all three Europa League games so far.
