Mario Hermoso has reportedly turned down a proposal from Bologna, so with Milan, Inter, Napoli and more no longer ready to wait, a Serie A move seems increasingly unlikely.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid was allowed to expire on June 30, ending his five-year spell at the club.

He had been seen as a likely option for Italian teams, with the likes of Napoli, Inter and Milan all heavily linked.

Hermoso holding out for better

The latest to make an approach was Bologna, but despite qualifying for the Champions League, they were unable to convince Hermoso that it was the right next step in his career.

Sky Sport Italia claim that he rejected their proposal and said he wanted to continue waiting to see what other offers came in.

At this point, it seems increasingly as if the Spaniard is heading towards the Saudi Pro League, as nobody else is prepared to meet his salary demands and commission.

In the Premier League, Aston Villa were known to have targeted the defender.
