FC Cincinnati are keen on bringing Alejandro Gomez to the MLS but are facing competition from Hellas Verona, reports suggest.

The 34-year-old forward is currently in Qatar with the Argentinian national team but that hasn’t stopped the transfer market noise, with a possible exit from Sevilla on the horizon in January. Gomez has only contributed to one goal in 12 La Liga appearances this season and could depart in the winter transfer window, when his contract will have 18 months until it’s expiration.

As reported by TMW, Hellas Verona are seriously interested in fighting with FC Cincinnati for Gomez but face a significant obstacle in their quest for the Sevilla forward.

The Argentinian’s contract with the Spanish club contains an ‘anti-Italian’ clause, which would force the Andalusians to pay Atalanta a further €8m, which would essentially add that onto the cost of any deal for Verona

FC Cincinnati don’t face this issue and will make an attempt to sign him in the January transfer window.
