Wolfsburg Coach Dieter Hecking declared a counter-attacking approach for the second leg against Inter.

The Germans fought back from a goal down to win 3-1 and visit San Siro next Thursday.

“I compliment my team, even if we didn’t do very well in the first half,” said Hecking in a Press conference.

“The second half was different, we found our rhythm and took the game in hand to create many scoring opportunities.

“The second half was different, we found our rhythm and took the game in hand to create many scoring opportunities.

“We weren’t accurate enough in front of goal and there are some regrets over that, but I have to say we’ve improved and ended the match on the up.

“Inter didn’t play badly, especially in the first half. The work still has to be done in the second leg, but we are good on the counter and must wait for the right moment to strike. Our position is good after this 3-1 result.”

Naldo will be suspended after picking up a yellow card, but Kevin de Bruyne bagged a brace this evening.

“It’s a shame for Naldo, but I am happy with Klose despite some people considering him to be a third choice.

“As for De Bruyne, it was a real surprise to see him be so decisive in the second half after a less impressive opening period. During the break I told him to stay calm.”
