Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina has been taken to hospital after he seemed to collapse unconscious following a head injury.

The Colombia international received treatment for the knock to the head in a collision with Udinese forward Ignacio Pussetto during the opening minutes of the game at the Stadio San Paolo.

He had a cut to his forehead and insisted on continuing, even though Alex Meret warmed up and was ready to step in.

Around 40 minutes later, Ospina suddenly crumpled to the ground and looked to be unconscious for at least a few seconds.

Medics rushed on and he seemed to wave at the crowd as he was stretchered off, taken straight to a local hospital in the ambulance for tests.

His wife was in the stadium and travelled to the hospital to be at his bedside, but Sky Sport Italia reported a CT scan was clear, although he was diagnosed with head trauma.

He'll be kept in hospital under observation for at least 24-48 hours.

Ospina is on loan from Arsenal with option to buy, which Napoli have already said they will activate.
