Former Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has been trending on X, formerly Twitter, in Italy after the ECJ said FIFA and UEFA are ‘abusing a dominant position’ giving a significant boost to the Super League.

Agnelli was one of the main figures behind the Super League and resigned as the ECA Chairman in 2021 after 12 elite European clubs announced the creation of a new European competition.

Most of them withdrew within 48 hours, leaving Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid as the only clubs still formally involved in the breakaway tournament.

However, Juventus started a process to quit the breakaway project last summer, and it’s no coincidence the Bianconeri have not yet released a statement following the ECJ ruling, contrary to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Agnelli is no longer the Juventus President having resigned from his position a year ago. However, fans have not forgotten his commitment to creating a new European competition and many are now praising him on X, formerly Twitter.

Agnelli is trending in Italy on Thursday morning, but the ex-Juventus President is also being mentioned by many foreign fans.
