‘He is different’- Luis Enrique reveals what he thinks about Donnarumma

PSG coach Luis Enrique denies he has problems with Gigio Donnarumma, saying the Italy international is ‘a top player’ with a great ‘heart and personality.’

There were reports at the start of the season that Luis Enrique did not particularly like Gigio’s style, especially with the ball at his feet, but the Spanish tactician praised the Italian goalkeeper during an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“He has unique experience. He is a top player, different from the others,” the ex-Roma boss told Sky Sport Italia ahead of a Champions League game against Newcastle.

“I am really happy to have him in the team. As a person, he is even bigger. He has a great heart and personality, somebody who always leaves positive things.”

Donnarumma has gone through tough times during his spell in Paris but has always been the regular starter between the sticks since last season.

The 24-year-old has kept four clean sheets in eight games across all competitions this season.

He conceded two goals in two games with Italy during the international break in September, starting against North Macedonia and Ukraine.

The ex-Milan keeper has played 56 games with the Azzurri, making his debut in 2016. His contract with PSG expires in June 2026.
