Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli blamed Massimiliano Allegri after his post-match interview on Sunday, saying the Old Lady’s boss can’t be happy about earning a point over Bologna.
Ravanelli was not impressed by Allegri’s post-match interview with DAZN after a 2-2 draw against Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium.
The former Italian striker, who scored a goal in a Champions League Final against Ajax in 1996, was particularly frustrated to see Allegri happy about earning a point over Bologna.
“He can’t say something like that,” Ravanelli told Pressing, as quoted by Tuttosport.
“To me, the Juventus coach can’t make claims like this. Max made a mistake. As the Juventus coach, he can’t say we earned a point over Bologna. He is in charge of Juventus, and I think he made an error. It’s a message he can’t send to the players.”
Juventus have won just one game from the last seven and conceded 11 goals. For the first time in the Allegri era, they conceded two goals in four consecutive matches.
The Italian tactician’s contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2025 but Juventus are expected to sit down with him before the end of the season to discuss a potential new deal.
Allegri returned to Juventus in 2021 but hasn’t yet won a trophy in his second spell at the Allianz Stadium.
Ravanelli spent four years at Juventus, scoring 68 goals in 160 matches and winning, among other trophies, one Champions League, one UEFA Cup (now Europa League), and two Serie A titles.
There should absolutely not be any new deal with Allegri. He needs to be shown the door at the end of the season. He is clearly not the right manager for this team and where it is in its development. It’s been 3 wasted years, but the Italian press continues to defend him. Sarri was sacked after one season after winning the scudetto and making the quarters of the UCL.
