Inter defender Stefan de Vrij praises his former coach Antonio Conte adding that Simone Inzaghi has been working ‘on a solid base.’

The Nerazzurri are on top of the Serie A table, enjoying a four-point lead over Milan and Napoli.

They won the title under Antonio Conte last term before the Italian tactician left the club by mutual agreement.

“Simone Inzaghi and Conte are two important coaches because they’ve won,” De Vrij told DAZN as quoted by FcInternews.

“I had already worked with Inzaghi at Lazio, Conte has had a great career because he’s always won.

“We won the title under Conte and you can see it now. Inzaghi has been working on a solid base and is doing an important season now.”

Inter send message to Tottenham over star duo

De Vrij’s contract expires in June 2023 and he has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Last week, Inter director Piero Ausilio said that the club is in no rush to extend the player’s stay at the club.

De Vrij joined Inter on a free transfer from Lazio in the summer of 2018. He has played 141 games with the Serie A giants, scoring eight goals.

Despite his contract expiring in a year and a half and rumours linking him with a move away from Inter, De Vrij doesn’t seem to be considering leaving the club anytime soon.

“I have fun with [Denzel] Dumfries. He laughs a lot, but he is a warrior on the pitch,” he said.

“He is such a nice guy, we often joke with [Hakan] Calhanoglu and [Ionut] Radu.”

  1. He’s right. The toupet tactician destroys clubs in Europe. Even the conference league isn’t safe for him!

  2. salty rubentus fans, hired wrong former coach.

conte right now maybe one of the best coach in the world. he like to challenge himself. while guardiola always went to rich and has solid foundation clubs (barca, bayer, city). conte build juventus, inter, and now Tottenham from zero.

  3. He Always Wins ? LOL – Conte helped Inter set the Italian record as Inter is the only Italian team to ever to fail the pass the Champion’s League group stage 3 years in a row !!! so if he always wins then how do you explain that record achievement ?

AND it’s not his fault, Marotta assembled the only Inter team to ever finish last in the Champion’s League Group Stage – a match made in Heaven !!!

  4. “he like to challenge himself.” Hahahahaha yeah yeah sure. When he doesn’t get 10 new players he angerly walks away. How do you come up with this stuff, really?

This guy has never achieved anything in europe.

  5. @I MISS MARCO BRANCA AT INTER… So far he WON whenever he went, fight with me.

He was hired to dethrone Juve and he did it with style, fight with me with this one too.

If you still choose to rehearse your same stories over again just because you don’t have much to say, then Inter WON more CL than Juve, fight with on this too!

You Juve fans are so salty about Conte that you jump in every article about Conte, we enjoyed that a lot, It really shows where it burns.

…and you need to change your name to “I MISS MAROTTA AT JUVE” because your team looks like a giant mess after he left. To support you, I will change my name to “I MISS FABIO PARATICI AT JUVE”. How about that?

  6. Juve started to deteriorate when Marota was still there. He sold Pogba and bought Higuain with the money. Sold Vidal and let Pirlo leave without proper replacements.

Every coach wins wherever he goes. No coach goes to a team and loses all his games. So yes, Conte won at every club he went. But there is no worse coach at a top team than Conte when you look at European results. That’s just a fact.

Conte didn’t dethrone Juve. Juve dethroned themselves. You’d have a point if Inter won and Juve came second after a head to head battle, but Juve came forth. Conte at Inter would have never beaten the Juve of 5 years ago.

  7. @I MISS MARCO BRANCA AT INTER:

LOL nice try about trying to blame it on Marotta, still salty about his departure, eh?
Marotta single-handedly shifted the power balance in Italy by picking the right coaches and right players.

@Zambrotta: Pogba was probably the biggest piece of business in the history of juBentus, how can you make it look like a bad thing? Club signed him for free and sold him for €105m (while his market value was €70m!)

Vidal was sold for €39.25m to Bayern, while your club only payed €12.5m and got his best years out of him. Brilliant pieces of business! What do you mean no proper replacements?! It was in the same 2015 when Pjanic has been signed. Please check the facts before writing out of your gut.

Buying Higuain and Pjanic assured club keeps winning the league, are you complaining about the trophies?

I can agree about Conte in Europe, hence the decision of Marotta to replace him with Inzaghi.

Inzaghi proved this year that he could get out of the group without Hakimi, Eriksen and Lukaku, so that`s on Conte, not Marotta. Biggest mistake Agnelli EVER did.
