Romanian referee Ovidiu Hategan will officiate Italy’s final Euro 2020 Group A game against Wales on Sunday.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

Hategan has been assigned to the fixture, assisted by Radu Ghinguleac and Sebastian Gheorghe.

Poland’s Pawel Gil will be the VAR, with Orel Grinfeeld of Israel as the fourth official.

Hategan turns 41 next month and already officiated one Euro 2020 fixture, flashing a red card to Grzegorgz Krychowiak during Slovakia’s 2-1 win over Poland on June 14.

He officiated two senior Italy games in his career, a 1-0 Euros qualifier away to Malta in October 2014 and the 1-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016.

Leonardo Bonucci was one of two men sent off during that Malta match, the other was Michael Mifsud for the hosts.

Wales were involved in three matches with Hategan and won all three of them to nil.

They beat Austria 1-0 in September 2017, Hungary 2-0 in November 2019 and the Czech Republic 1-0 in March 2021.

The latter qualifier was another fiery affair, as Patrik Schick was sent off at the dawn of the second half for the Czechs, followed by Connor Roberts late on.
