French paper L’Equipe blamed Gigio Donnarumma after PSG’s defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but his compatriot Marco Verratti received an even lower rating.

The Ligue 1 giants didn’t start the Champions League knock-out phase off on the right foot, facing a 1-0 loss against Bayern n Tuesday night.

Italy international Donnarumma was largely blamed for the defeat as he conceded Kingsley Coman’s winner by getting down to the ground too slowly and letting the shot squirm underneath him.

French paper L’Equipe rated Gigio 4/10, but quite surprisingly that was not the lowest rating in the PSG squad.

Leo Messi, Neymar and Donnarumma’s compatriot Verratti were handed 3/10. L’Equipe claims the ex-Pescara man ‘struggled’ in the middle of the park, mirroring PSG’s poor performance with the Ligue 1 giants who rarely seemed in control of the match.

This is Donnarumma’s second season in Paris and the ex-Milan star has become the starting goalkeeper at the Parc des Princes this season, following the appointment of Christophe Galtier.

Verratti, on the other hand, has spent almost his entire career in the French capital, joining from Pescara in 2012. The 30-year-old has recently extended his contract until 2026.
