The Nerazzurri scraped the 1-0 victory at the Stadio Dall’Ara with a Mauro Icardi tap-in after Felipe Melo’s red card, but Handanovic was decisive.
“It was a very important save because the game was practically finished, but that’s what I’m there for. I am pleased that I was ready when called upon, having done nothing until that point. It's one of the most important saves of my career in Italy,” Handanovic told Mediaset Premium.
“We played the first half below par, a bit like we did against Palermo. We must change attitude, but the important thing ultimately is to win. In a week nobody will remember how Inter won at Bologna.”
The Nerazzurri are top of the table for at least 24 hours awaiting Wednesday night’s games.
“On Saturday we have a great challenge against Roma, but every game must be prepared the same way. We must improve in every area, above all in the attitude when we face matches like this. We are too passive.
“In Italy the side that wins the title is the one that concedes the fewest goals, so we must remain compact at the back.”
Handanovic was also asked about his contract renewal to stay at San Siro.
“There’s no problem, we have an agreement with the club.”
